A while back I posted about how I thought Keira Knightley was not the right person for the Coco Mademoiselle ads. “Though stunningly beautiful, I didn’t think Ms. Knightly embodied the class, elegance and style of Mlle. Chanel.” I meant to add that I thought Natalie Portman would have been a better choice. I just saw this photo of Ms. Portman wearing Chanel recently and it made me think of that again. Chanel announced a while back that Audrey Tautou would be the new face of Chanel No. 5 so I guess that’s out of the question for now. We’ll have to see, but my vote for the next face of a Chanel fragrance is N.P.

Yep! More Chanel news! Around 70s years after it first appeared, the Chanel Sycomore fragrance is back on the shelves of high-end cosmetic stores.
Chanel Sycomore was first mixed by Ernest Beaux (best known for creating Chanel No. 5, perhaps the world’s most famous perfume) for Coco Chanel in the 1930s and was originally described as a ‘woody’ scent with ‘balsamic notes’. it’s now been re-created by perfumer Jacques Polge as part of Chanel’s rare perfume collection, adding a hint of sandalwood, cypress, juniper and pink pepper.
If those descriptions mean absolutely nothing to you, it might be worth nipping to your local store for a blast.

Thursday night Kaiser Karl will unveil the Chanel 2009 Cruise Collection at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami. The Raleigh, an art deco beauty, was built in 1940 but is now one of Miami’s boutique hotels as part of the Andre Balazs family (of The Standard fame). The runway is rumored to mimic the shape of the pool and the show is supposed to end with U.S. Olympic team synchronized swimmers performing a water ballet. Wow! Somehow, Karl manages to outdo his past shows at a Santa Monica airport hangar and Grand Central Terminal in New York. Here’s what he said about choosing the location:
“I like the Raleigh because it is like old Hollywood, even if the collection has nothing to do with it,” he said. “Miami is the starting point, but this collection is made for the world.”

All I know is that I can’t wait to see!
