Earlier this week I received some mail from Chanel – yay!  It was the look book for the Spring 2011 Chanel Mademoiselle handbag collection.  The campaign features Blake Lively and the look book consisted of a set of six postcards packaged in an envelope that had a handle like a bag.

And speaking of Blake Lively, the word on the street is that some folks at Chanel HQ didn’t think that Blake Lively was a good “face” for the Coco Mademoiselle line.  Because she’s American?  Hmmm, maybe, Chanel usually has European ladies rep the line.  In any case, we think Blake looked stunning in the ad campaign and she embodies the confidence, beauty and sophistication of Chanel.  So there.Similar Posts:

On March 21, 2011, CHANEL will debut the highly anticipated short film titled, “Coco
Mademoiselle,” starring Oscar®-nominated actress Keira Knightley.

Three years after the first commercial film, Knightley reprises her role as COCO MADEMOISELLE, a modern
day Coco Chanel whose mystery, daring and rebelliousness are at the heart of her charm.

While the first film featured long evening gowns, the second takes on a more urban feel, with Knightley
appearing on the streets of Paris in a chic, beige motorcycle jumpsuit designed for her by Karl Lagerfeld.
Filmed in legendary locations across the City of Light – from Place Vendome to Place de la Concorde, the film
is a collaboration between Knightley and Joe Wright, a creative relationship that began with Wright’s
directorial debut, the Oscar®-nominated film Pride & Prejudice, and continued with the Oscar®-nominated
Atonement.

“For me, Gabrielle Chanel is an icon and there was an incredible power emanating from all the photos of her,”
states Knightley. “When I began to delve into her history more closely, I was obviously fascinated by her
immense talent as a designer, but more than that, by her singular background.”

The commercial film’s soundtrack, “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World” by James Brown is performed by the
soulful voice of Grammy® award winner, Joss Stone and was published by Warner Chappell.
Coco Mademoiselle is a fresh oriental scent created by CHANEL master perfumer Jacques Polge in 2001.
The fragrance represents the ever-evolving spirit of Coco Chanel in this feminine, sexy, young and exciting
fragrance.

A national cable television flight of 30 and 60 second spots will debut March 22, 2011. A print advertisement
shot by Mario Testino will debut in April 2011.

In April 2006, Knightley joined the legendary league of women who have represented CHANEL in global
advertising campaigns. Her elegance, beauty and modernity are some of her qualities that parallel the iconic
faces featured in the CHANEL fragrance campaigns, including Nicole Kidman, Ali McGraw, Catherine
Deneuve and Audrey Tautou for N°5, Vanessa Paradis for Coco and Anna Mouglalis for Allure Sensuelle.

Last week, Chanel released a mobile version of their website that allows you to purchase skincare, makeup and fragrance from your mobile phone.  I’ve seen many mobile versions of websites – mostly blogs (LaChanelphile mobile coming soon!) but this is the first I’ve seen with e-commerce capability.  Now, if you need a Chanel No. 5 fix you can get it anytime, anywhere.  If you want to see collections, the latest shows and the Chanel blog, well, there’s an App for that (sorry, I couldn’t help myself).   You can download the Chanel App on iTunes and see Chanel Mobile on your phone.Similar Posts:

Since Peter Philips has taken the helm at Chanel as Global Makeup Creative Director it has been one non-stop stream of fabulous beauty products from Le Vernis Jade to the reintroduction of Coco Rouge lipsticks to Chanel robots.  Now, beginning at the end of February we’ll have a chance to see inside the makeup studio with the launch of CHANEL Confidential, a digital platform dedicated to CHANEL makeup showcasing Peter Philips’ universe and creations.

The animation of Chanel’s flying makeup robots will also be accessible on ChanelConfidential.com (which you actually already saw on Nowness and on LaChanelphile) but maybe there is an extended version on the Chanel site?  Also from the preview it looks like we’ll get makeup tips straight from the source.  Whatever the case, I will be there!

Mila Kunis is all grown up.  I remember thinking she was so pretty as Jackie on That ’70s Show and it’s nice to see her as a young woman with a great career ahead of her.  The Black Swan co-star was at the People’s Choice Awards in Chanel Beauté.

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin worked with Mila Kunis at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday, January 5th. Here’s how Rachel go Mila’s smoky, sophisticated red carpet look…

I wanted Mila’s makeup to be sophisticated and sultry like the soft lines and colour of her dress. I accentuated her incredible eyes with a very soft earth-tone smoky eye. I started by blending CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Winter Nights, and finishing it with CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Torrent, a khaki shimmer, on her upper eyelid. I blended a smoky quartz pencil along the inner bottom eye for a bit more intensity.  I kept the rest of her face very understated with soft peach cream blush, and a flesh toned gloss, CHANEL Rouge Allure Gloss in Insouciance.

I love the look of neutral lips and I think I may have to get Insouciance as my new go-to lipgloss.Similar Posts:

Last week I posted the first images that had surfaced online of the Chanel Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign shot by Karl Lagerfeld and now more images are coming to light.  The complete spring 2011 campaign also includes Stella Tenant in addition to Baptiste Giabiconi and Freja Beha. The new images have the same relaxed, playful mood and garden backdrop – a beautiful canvas to showcase the lovely collection.

Last month, we heard rumors about Blake Lively taking on the role of brand ambassador for a Chanel handbag line.  We speculated that it may be for the Chanel Coco Cocoon collection with Blake following in the footsteps of Lily Allen and Vanessa Paradis.  Instead, WWD has just reported that Blake Lively is the face of a new line of Chanel handbags – the Mademoiselle bag.

First seen in the Chanel 2010/2011 Cruise show, the Mademoiselle bag is an oblong shaped bag featuring the brand’s signature quilting, chain strap and double-C logo.  Available in an array of colors and fabrics (cloth jersey, lambskin, calfskin, alligator, satin and shagreen), the bag retails for $2,000 – $3,300 for base ranges and over $30,000 for exotic skins.

Karl shot the campaign in Paris at the historic 31 Rue Cambon on the storied Chanel mirrored staircase that Mademoiselle herself would sit and watch her collection shows.  When asked why he chose Blake Lively, Karl stated:  “She’s full of life…She’s a kind of American dream girl…I think she will become a great actress.”

The ads for the new Chanel Mademoiselle bags will begin to surface in April 2011 magazines – I can’t wait to see the campaign!Similar Posts:
