Chanel 2010-11 Cruise Show Beauty

Chanel 2010-11 Cruise Show Beauty

Effortless, natural beauty, relaxed girls who are enjoying their holidays. That was the main idea behind the look for this show.

- Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup

Each collection brings a new makeup collection by Peter Philips.  Since he’s been on board, each season he creates a frenzy with limited edition nail lacquer colors and the Cruise 2010-2011 collection will no doubt do the same.  The laid back collection was paired with equally easy going hair and makeup.  The cosmetics were used to create natural sun-kissed looks and the nails featured Jade Rose and a new sky blue (yet to be released name) shade.  I’m guessing the blue was inspired by the azure sky and/or sea of St. Tropez.  Once we find out the name, the only question will be how much the new shade will sell for on ebay!

For the show in Saint-Tropez, Peter used the following CHANEL products to create the runway beauty looks that accompanied the Amber brown, absinthe and mint green, sky and navy blue, and bright pink prints of the collection.

Skincare: Skin prepared with Hydramax + Active Nourishing Cream

Complexion: Vitalumière Aqua Foundation (available March 2011)
Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder
Éclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen
Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer
Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base

The Eyes: Ombres Contraste Duo Eyeshadow Duo in Taupe-Délicat (available in September 2010)
Le Crayon Sourcils Precision Brow Definer
Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Black

Lips: Soin Tendre Lèvres Hydra-Treatment Lip Care SPF 15
New lipstick pencils (not yet available)

The Cheeks: Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid

The Nails: Le Vernis Nail Colour in Jade Rose and a new pastel baby blue shade (not yet available)

Chanel Noir et Or Paris-Shanghai Makeup Collection

Chanel Noir et Or Paris-Shanghai Makeup Collection

In December, Chanel presented the Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2010 Paris-Shanghai collection in Shanghai.  The Métiers D’Art collections are always my favorite because Karl always takes us to exotic locales and the pieces are always exquisitely crafted by the artisans and craftsmen that the house of Chanel is know for working with.

Each season, Peter Philips creates a beauty collection to accompany the fashion collection and for this year’s Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2010 Paris-Shanghai Collection he created Noir et Or (“Black & Gold”).  Noir et Or takes cues from the apparel and accessories collection that featured jet black with gilded gold accents.

Chanel Noir et Or Paris-Shanghai Makeup Collection

I’m very excited about this collection because for the first time, Chanel is offering a black matte nail colour called Black Velvet ($25).  The other Le Vernis colors include Gold Lamé, a Satiny gold nail color ($25) and Illusion d‘or, a transparent sparkling gold nail color ($25).  Though Chanel is no stranger to gold nail polish, Gold Lamé and Illusion d‘or are different than the Gold Fiction and Or de Russe (”Russian Gold” from the Paris-Moscou collection).  Gold Lamé looks like a more subtle version of Gold Fiction and Illusion d‘or is clear with just a hint of gold sparkle.  I definitely can’t wait to get my claws on all of these!

For eyes, Chanel is releasing Ligne et Ombre de Chanel in Jet-Gold, a matte black eyeliner and sparkling gold eyeshadow ($45).  I love the juxtaposition of matte black with lustrous gold.  Chanel herself was said to wear gold eyeshadow – one of my favorite eyeshadow colors.

Noir et Or will be on counters later this week for April 2010 and will be sold exclusively at Chanel boutiques, Chanel Makeup Studios and on Chanel.com.

Les Pop-Up De Chanel Summer 2010 Makeup Collection

LES POP-UP DE CHANEL SUMMER 2010 MAKEUP COLLECTION

LES POP-UP DE CHANEL SUMMER 2010 MAKEUP COLLECTION

Coco Chanel made tans chic, and now Peter Philips had concocted a summer cosmetics collection that will make bronzed skin glow.  Inspired by Mademoiselle’s idyllic seaside vista, Les Pop-Up De Chanel, boasts a fresh crops of colors that will surely be the cult favorites of the summer.  Neon pink, sunny coral and brilliant turquoise are sure to complement any glowing tan (faux or not).

The limited edition collection features Soleil Tan de Chanel (Moisturizing Bronzing Powder), Rouge Allure (Luminous Satin Lip Color $32), Aqualumière (Sheer Color Lipshine SPF 15 $29), Aqualumière Gloss (High Shine Sheer Concentrate $27), Gloss Fluo de Chanel (Brilliant Lip Shine $27), Lèvres Scintillantes (Glossimer $27) and Le Vernis (Nail Colour $23).

I’m especially loving Le Vernis Nail Colour in Nouvelle Vague – it’s a bit reminiscent of the ever-popular Jade but it’s a bit more blue evoking the Mediterranean Sea. All of these colors looks great together and will take you from the beach to le club. Les Pop-Up De Chanel Summer 2010 Makeup Collection hits stores in May 2010. I know I can’t wait to get my Nouvelle Vague!

Les Trompe-L’oeil de Chanel – Temporary Skin Art/Tattoos

Les Trompe-L'oeil de Chanel - Temporary Skin Art/Tattoos

I just received a package in the mail and was excited to see that it was my set of Les Trompe-L’oeil de Chanel, better known as the Chanel Temporary Skin Art/Tattoos.  The tattoos made their debut a few months back at the Spring 2010 Chanel Ready To Wear presentation.

The set includes 5 sheets with a total of 55 designs – each hand-drawn by Peter Philips, Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup.  Each trompe-l’oeil references a classic Chanel motif – pearls, the double C’s, and chain links with woven leather.  Traditional tattoo references also include sparrows and cherry blossoms.

I love this set, though I will confess, I bought Les Trompe-L’oeil de Chanel purely as a collector’s piece – I won’t be using any of these temporary tattoos.  I like to keep my skin canvas blank, but if you don’t want to commit to a real tattoo, then what it doesn’t get better than a Chanel temporary tattoo.

I was on a waiting list to get Les Trompe-L’oeil de Chanel but it may not be too late to get yours.  Try contact Ruby at the Chanel at the Encore in Las Vegas and tell her Gabriella sent you!

VogueTV: Peter Philips in 80 Days

VogueTV: Peter Philips in 80 Days

VogueTV: Peter Philips in 80 Days

Peter Philips, the artistic director of Chanel Beauty has made quite a splash since he joined the Chanel team in 2008.  In his short time there he’s already created cult classics like Gold Fiction, Jade and Particulière.  Now you can watch the master make-up artist at work behind the scenes at runway shows, in his studio, during beauty shoots and in business meetings.

I especially love these videos because you get rare glimpses into fittings (which still take place in Mademoiselle’s salon), details of some of the accessories, the Lesage embroidery studio, and even the archives where you catch sight of original Chanel beauty products and Coco’s very first little black dress. View the videos from VogueTV below…

Chanel Nail Colour: Spring 2010

Chanel Nail Colour Spring 2010

We all got a glimpse of the gorgeous new Chanel nail colours at the recent Spring 2010 RTW show in Paris.  Now, images are surfacing on the net of the actual shades:  Particulière, Tendresse & Inattendu.  Chanel’s artistic director of makeup Peter Philips seems to have his finger on the pulse of what women want when it comes to nail colour.  My favorite is Particulière – it’s that perfect mix of grey, brown and olive green that makes it the perfect neutral – or shall we shay the new black?  The new Chanel nail colours will hit stores in January and I can’t wait to get mine!
